| Betty M. Eng, 84, a resident of Avonlea Cottage, Milan died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Burial is at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Betty Hirl was born on January 16, 1926 in Princeton, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Tilly Erling Hirl. She married Robert Eng on December 10, 1955. He died December 7, 1997. She worked for Rock Island Packaging prior to her retirement. Betty was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Milan. She enjoyed reading, walking, canvas work and doing embroidery. In earlier years, she was a Cub Scout den mother. She loved attending her family reunions each year. But her world revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Edward E. Potter, Silvis and Thomas A. and Shelli Eng, Erie; grandchildren, Lisa Potter, Lorey Potter, Erica Eng, Chris King and Dale Owen and his wife Cheryl Owen; six great grandchildren; Katie, Hayden, Ashton, Bailey, Aaron and Kyia; and her dearest friend, Avis Schneider, Milan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Patricia Owen; and brother, William Hirl. | |

I'm sorry to have heard of your lost of your Mom, and grandmother. I'm sorry I'm so far away to be able to be there. My condolences are with you. I remember seeing Betty at the family re-union at Larry's and Joyces, She will always be remembered with a wonderfull smile and twingle in her eye. She surely loved life and the people around her. I will always remember her in that way. My thoughts and prayers are with in this difficult time.
