| Emil C. Dhaemers, 89, of Aledo, formerly of Boden, IL, died Thursday October 28, 2010, at the home of his daughter, Cindy Stewardson, Taylor Ridge. Services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Matherville. Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Viola. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a Christian wake service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, or to Serenity Hospice, Aledo. Emil was born September 30, 1921, in Ringstead, IA, a son of Louis Karl Dhaemers and Emma Pape Dhaemers. He graduated from Reynolds High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He married Miriam Arlene Carpenter on May 22, 1944, in Milan, IL. Emil worked as a route salesman for Borden's, Land-O-Lakes, and Swiss Valley dairies retiring after 32 years. He later worked at Modern Woodmen of America, Rock Island, for 9 years. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Matherville, Reynolds American Legion Post 1166, and Camp 26 of Modern Woodmen. In earlier years, he coached in the Tri-County Little League. He loved to follow his grandchildren’s sports and school activities, gardening, and playing cards. Surviors include his wife, Arlene, of Aledo; children (and spouses), Daria (Les) Marlow, Little Rock, Ark., DeeDee (Robert) Kennedy, Des Moines, IA, Brian Dhaemers, Sherrard, IL, Greg Dhaemers, Jacksonville, FL, Cindy (Dave) Stewardson, Taylor Ridge, Geralyn (John) McEvoy, Rock Island, and Michelle (Joe) Needham, Morton, IL; grandchildren, Brandi (Chip) Meadows, Cary (Natasha) Marlow, Chad (Ginger) Marlow, Darren (Jennifer) Kennedy, Trinita Kennedy, Jamie (Chris) Rogers, Jessica, Blake, and Brittany Dhaemers, Cory Crandall, Stephanie (Tyler) Fuhr, Krista (Doug) Thiem, Eric Stewardson, Justin and Jarrod Dhaemers, Jay, Leanne, and Kimberly McEvoy; great-grandchildren, Connor, Campbell, Gabe, Sarah, Tyler, Landon, Miles, Mimi, Lily, and June; sister-in-law, Elsie Dhaemers, Valparaiso, IN; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Emil is preceded in death by his parents, son, Randle Dhaemers, two brothers, and four sisters. | |
