| Eric N. Stromberg, 48, of Rock Island, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Trinity Rock Island. Services are 11 am Wednesday, at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Inurnment will be at a later date at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island where military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Eric was born April 22, 1962 in Moline, IL, a son of Robert and Anna Potts Stromberg. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran. He married Melanie Gooden on July 20, 1996 in Rock Island, IL. Eric was employed as a mechanic most of his life and followed in his father’s footsteps by working at McLaughlin Body for the last 5 years. He was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, and A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois. Eric’s passion was working on classic and fast cars, riding motorcycles, and helping family and friends repair their cars. Survivors include his wife Melanie; son, Jeffrey Holtz, East Moline; step-sons, Joseph and Matthew Loete; brothers and sisters, Deidre (Bruce) Golden, Viola, Phiama (Donald) Krakliow, East Moline, Quanee (Tim) George, Viktoria Owens, East Moline, and Daniel Stromberg, Rock Island; and many nieces and nephews. I personaly never met eric but I can feel your loss,let me say that we have all been blessed by his service and sacrifice his freinds,family,country.

So sorry for the loss of Eric. He was a really great guy,always had a smile or a wave.Had many chances to talk with him at work as we both loved harleys. I am so sorry to hear about Eric. I just found out over the holiday and was sadden to hear of his passing. Eric's father used to be married to my mother until his father's passing October 7, 1993. Eric was a great person and a great step-brother. He will now get to join his father again. Rest in peace.
