James E. Hofer was born on March 28, 1935, the son of Edward and Mary Haas Hofer. Jim spent the entirety of his seventy-five years on his family farm just west of Reynolds. He served his country in Germany in the U.S. Army and returned home to farm after the death of his father in 1955. He married Barbara Jan Huggins of Sherrard on September 19, 1959. The couple adopted two girls, Jennifer, then Lucinda, and gave them a wonderful home and a lifetime of great memories. Jim traveled many places throughout the world but never found a place that was better than home. He had many friends of all ages and never went anywhere that he didnít find someone he knew. Jim will be missed but surely never forgotten.
Survivors include daughters, Jennifer Hofer, Dearborn, MI, and Lucy White and her husband, Alan, Reynolds; grandsons, Naim Barakat, Dearborn, MI, and Henry and Shepard White, both of Reynolds; and his sister, Virginia Cooper, Aledo. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Barbara Jan.

I am really sorry for the loss of Mr. Hofer. I didn't personally know him, but I know his daughter Jennifer Hofer, as she is a wonderful person. I am quite sure that he was even more amazing because he is the one who raised this wonderful woman. May his soul rest in peace.

Jim was the older kid at Prairie Union school at the west end of the"East Road". I remember him clewing me in on the other kids at school.
When we moved back to the farm in '79 he was the first to stop by and say Hey.He was not bashful ,he was Jimmy Hofer to me.
