Interment: Wednesday December 08, 2010 at National Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill.

Marsha A. Nelson, 74, of Coal Valley, died Friday, at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice.

Marsha Reed was born on Jan. 1, 1936 in Benton, Ill., a daughter of James. L. and Ethel A. Phillips Reed. She married Robert D. Nelson on July 6, 1959 in Rock Island.

She retired from John Deere Insurance, where she worked as a supervisor for 20 years.

Marsha enjoyed doing needlepoint and the yearly trips to Europe over the last 12 years.

Survivors include her husband, Bob; children (and spouses), James (Shellie) Nelson, Coal Valley, Barbara (Chuck) Lyon, Kansas City, Mo. and Drake A. (Heather) Nelson, Phoenix, Az.; grandchildren, Drake R. and Taylor Nelson, C.J. Klingerman, Destiny Nelson and Shelby Nelson; brother, Robert Reed, Chicago; and sisters, Barbara Rosales, Albany, Ga., Susan Reed, Alexandria, Va. and Margaret Hagen, Upper Lake, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dear Bob, I was very sorry to learn of your loss. My condolences to you and all your family. I was Marsha's classmate at Franklin and I believe at Rocky. I ran into the two of you a year or two ago, but can't recall just when or where. In case you might not remember me I lived in the West End just a block up from the Arsenal Courts as a boy, and sometimes played with you and Paul Perkins and Norm McClellan and others, even though you were all a couple of years older than me.
