H. Allen Becht, 87, a resident of the Iowa Masonic Home, Bettendorf died Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the home. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Cleveland Heights Christian Church in Cheektowaga, New York. Memorials may be made to the church or a favorite charity. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030-7th Avenue, Rock Island is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Allen was born January 17, 1923 in Chicago, the son of John J. Becht and Lois Cole Becht. He married Edith L. Dunn on January 26, 1946 in Waukegan, IL. She preceded her husband in death on July 5, 2010. Mr. Becht worked as a sales representative for Cardwell Westinghouse Company, Chicago, then later for the Acme Highway Company, Buffalo, New York. Allen was a member of the Cleveland Heights Christian Church where he had served as an elder and lay minster. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Becht had been attending services at the First Baptist Church, Davenport. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Becht, Bettendorf; son, Merrill Becht, Media, Pennsylvania; grandsons, Ross Becht and Ryan Becht; three great grandchildren. Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Edith. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.wheelanpressly.com
