Leon was born May 13, 1930 in Stahl, Missouri, the 6th child of Olen & Leta (Hedrick) True. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Adams on August 12, 1951 in Galesburg. Leon was an assembler at Deere Harvester Works for 39 ˝ years, retiring in 1987. He was a Korean War Army Veteran serving from 1951-1953 in the 213th Field Artillery Battalion.
Leon was a loyal St. Louis Cardinal fan, loved country music, playing his guitar, wintering in Texas, working on cars, remodeling homes and playing softball, but nothing was ever more important than his family. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandkids activities, especially sports.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, 5 children: Sherrie (Jeff) Mayer, Flower Mound, TX; Debbie (Jon) Gradert, Sherrard; Tammy Blade (Duane Marshall) Orion; Randy (Sandy) True, Osco and Tim (Gail) True, Coal Valley, 12 grandchildren: Jay, Elizabeth (Taku); Judson (Jen); Amanda (Pat); Emily (Sam); Charlie (Autumn); Jake (Allison); Abbagail, Kaytlynn, Zachary, Colton & Dalton as well as 6 great-grandchildren: Mariah, Layn, Mason, Cohwen, Trey & Gianna and many nieces & nephews.
Leon was preceeded in death by his parents; siblings, Juanita, Clyde, Ralph, Clarice, Dale and 3 nephews.
He taught his kids & grandkids respect, compassion and the value of hard work…husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa…HERO to his family.
