Vigil Service: 4:00 p.m. Thursday February 03, 2011 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, Ill.
Interment: Friday February 04, 2011 at Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island, Ill.

Evelyn L. Mesich, 83, of Rock Island, died Friday, January 28, 2011 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Entombment is at the Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a Christian wake service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Neurofibromatosis Foundation, Epilepsy Foundation or to Susan G. Komen For The Cure.

Evelyn Ewig was born on March 2, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Henry and Thelma Zettel Ewig. She married Emil L. Mesich on May 22, 1948 in Milwaukee.

She worked several years in the circulation department of the Argus/Dispatch and in earlier years at the International Harvester Milwaukee Works.

She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.

Survivors include her husband, Emil; daughters, Deborah J. Brown, Houghton Lake, Mich. , and Vickie A. Mesich a resident of Manor Care, Davenport; grandchildren (and spouses), Shawn (Lanie) Brown, Flint, Mich., Autumn Brown, Phoenix, Ariz., and Eric (Angela) Brown, Lockport, Ill.; a great grandson, Lucas Brown, Lockport; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Lou Ewig, Milwaukee; brother-in-law, George Mesich, Pompano Beach, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

My heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the Mesich family. I went to school with Deb and met her mom and dad at one point. I pray for God's peace and Spirit to comfort and guide you through this difficult time.
