Ruth Olga Fry, age 91, of Janesville, WI, formerly of Rock Island, IL, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at her home. She was born in Rock Island on June 25, 1919, the daughter of William H. and Matilda (Hansgen) Klinkerman. Ruth married Richard “Dick” C. Fry on July 26, 1946, in Rock Island. She was employed by the Rock Island School District as a Secretary at Washington Junior High School for 30 years before retiring in 1975. While residing in Rock Island, she and her husband were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Richard of Janesville; a daughter, Linda (Kenneth) Benson of Janesville; 3 grandchildren: Scott Benson, Karleen (Scot) Ernst, and Kristen (Mathew) Funk; 5 great grandchildren: Trace, Ashley, Ethan, Joshua, and Emma; a sister, Marjorie M. Hintz of Rock Island, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Brian Benson; 3 sisters: Elna Wessel, Alice Schindler, and Elsie Schultz; and a brother, Richard Klinkerman.

Memorial services for both Ruth and for her husband ,Richard, who passed away, January 24, 2001, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at the WHEELAN-PRESSLY FUNERAL HOME, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, IL, with Rev. Stephen F. Gallo officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Saturday, Feb. 5 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Just found the obit for your folks, Linda, and have to say what a nice article and the pictures you selected were great. Thought of you throughout the day yesterday. Hope all went well and that everybody was able to make it and arrived safely. You and Ken have been wonderful caretakers.
