Carol A. Young, 61, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday March 23rd at her home.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, with a funeral service starting at 5 p.m.

Private burial will be Monday at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Carol was born March 5th 1950 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Rock Island, the daughter of Chester and Betty (Free) Waite. She married James Kitchens Jr. April 5th 1969 in England. She later married Norman David Young on July 3, 1995. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2003. She was employed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, retiring in December of 2006. After retirement she returned to the Quad City area in June of 2007.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Midwest City, Oklahoma.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her granddaughter Claire. She enjoyed cross stitch, making jewelry and crafts.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James Kitchens III and Carey Seren; granddaughter, Claire; brothers, Dennis Waite, David Waite, Dale Waite; first husband, James Kitchens Jr.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and a sister, Nancy.

I just found out about Carol's passing yesterday.. James, I am so sorry for your loss. She was an amazing Step-Grandma to my sister and I. We weren't as close once she moved away but she will always have a specaial place in my heart. She will be greatly missed. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Good Bless you. - Becca
