| Cecil E. Hannah, 92, of Rock Island, formerly of Taylor Ridge, IL, died Thursday April 21, 2011, at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, IL. Entombment will be at Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, where a rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Cecil was born December 20, 1918, near Sikeston, MO, a son of Fred and Sara Carpenter Hannah. He married Margaret A. Curry on October 7, 1944 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Cecil was a lifelong farmer in the Taylor Ridge area, and foreman with State of Illiniois, Dept. of Transportation for 16 years. After retiring from farming, he was maintenance foreman at Landuits Lake, Joslin, IL for 6 years. Cecil was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and 3rd Degree member of Allouez Council 658, Knights of Columbus. He served as a Democratic precinct committeeman of Edgington Twsp. for 25 years, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed competing in and winning many tractor pulls over the years. His interests included fishing, camping, and watching the Chicago Cubs and auto racinig. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Hannah, Rock Island; children (and spouses), Michael (Jackie) Hannah, Rock Island; Vincent (Marty) Hannah, Geneseo, IL, and Allan Hannah, Monmouth, IL; grandchildren, Tim (Kelli) Hannah, Geneseo, Laurie (Shawn) Meenan, Phoeniz, AZ, David Hannah and Jeff (Kelli) Hannah, all of Rock Island, Cyndi (Shawn) Webster, Colona, and Cheyenne Hannah, Muscatine; step-grandchildren, Debbie Kosters, Jeffrey, James, Michael, Kenneth, and Kevin Smith, Angie Stiles, Michael Reynolds, and Shala Mannoochahr; 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous step great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Reed, Bloomington, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Paul, Charles, Tony, and Eugene Hannah, and one sister, Florence Jones.
