Camille Jean Frainer Brune died Monday, May 16th at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was born February 16, 1924 in Springfield, IL and was a long-time resident of Rock Island and Moline, IL.

Camille married Reynold (Rey) William Brune on November 10, 1949 and were blessed with a large family. Camille is survived by her children Martha (James) Rapp, Quincy, IL; Stephen (Patricia) Brune, Springfield, IL: Frederick (Mary) Brune, Columbus Junction, IA; Joseph (Mary) Brune, Rock Island, IL; Priscilla (Roger) DeKeyrel, Illinois City, IL; Jessica (Daniel) Beck, Cedar Rapids, IA; and 16 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.

Camille was preceded in death by her husband Rey Brune ; son Reynold William (“Bill”) Brune; her parents, Joseph Cornelius Frainer and Margaret Chambers Frainer; and her sister Mary Virginia.

Camille was an avid golfer and a long time member of Short Hills Country Club in East Moline. She was active in Circle 3 at St Pius X Catholic Church, and loved playing bridge with her friends. Later in life, Camille fulfilled a lifelong dream and became an accomplished artist specializing in oil painting. She was also a talented seamstress. She shared these passions with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader who always had her Kindle nearby. She was a devoted Chicago Cub fan whose “Wait 'til next year” optimism was an inspiration to all.

Camille’s sense of humor and wit were matched only by her kindness and selflessness. She devoted her life to her family, and took great joy in her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Camille always conducted herself in a manner that would make others feel comfortable; during her last days when she found speaking difficult, she always managed to say “Thank you” to her nurses and caregivers. She was a lady through and through. “Mom” left an everlasting impression not only on her family, but also to those fortunate enough to have known her.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23rd at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home in Rock Island, IL from 4 pm to 7 p.m, with a rosary recited at 4p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St.Pius X Catholic church in Rock Island on Tuesday, May 24th at 10 am.

The family asks that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. She was such a great lady! Luna, my therapy dog, and I stopped in to visit her while she was staying in Friendship Manor. She was reading her kindle, but put it aside to talk about her kids and grandkids. Know that she will be missed and that we are thinking about you.
