Graveside services will be 2:00pm Friday July 1, 2011 at National Cemetery, Rock Island, those wishing to attend should meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Milan American Legion 569, the Milan Legion Auxiliary.

Gerald was born on July 4, 1932 in Union Hill, IL, the son of Martin and Clara (Gieger) Voigts. He married Marilyn Hulett on January 4, 1975 in Rock Island. Gerald was a Korean War Veteran having served in the Air Force.

Mr. Voigts was employed for 36 years at the Rock Island Arsenal as a procurement contracting officer, retiring in 1979.

Gerald was a member of the Milan American Legion Post 569.

Mr. Voigts loved sports. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, also the University of Illinois and Northwestern University.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Rhonda Mulligan, Bourbonnais, IL, Kevin Voigts, Kankakee, IL, Glen Jacobsen, Milan, Brian Jacobsen, Florida; seven grandchildren and sister, Shirley Good.

He was preceded in death by sons, Bruce Voigts, Chris Voigts; step son, Russell Jacobsen; his parents, a brother, Dale Voigts and sister, Yvonne Gadsberry.
