| Lila Mae Murphy, 87, of Milan, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo, IL. Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan. Visitation will be an hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Reynolds Cemetery, Reynolds, IL. Memorials may be made to South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island. Lila was born in Reynolds, Ill on January 28, 1924, the daughter of John and Lily Kemp Stropes. She married James Murphy on October 4, 1947 at South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island. Lila loved to go camping and fishing with her family, and was a Chicago Cubs fan. She is survived by her husband, James; sons, Gary (Joyce) Murphy, Taylor Ridge, and Brian (Shari) Murphy, Lanark, IL; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lila was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Peggy and Janet; and three brothers. | |

Let me offer our deepest sympathies. I can remember your mother all the way back to the early days of Denkmann up through graduation at RIHS. My mom considered her very dear and sweet lady. Your family will be in the thoughts and prayers of mine.
