| Doris E. Hollmer, 83, of Taylor Ridge, Ill., died Friday, July 22, 2011, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Services for Mrs. Hollmer will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, Ill. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family or your favorite charity. Doris was born on September 15, 1927, in Rockford, Ill., daughter of Chris Roussell and Freda (Kisting) Roussell. She married Robert Hollmer on February 4, 1947, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Davenport. Mrs. Hollmer was a homemaker. Her memberships include St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where she was very active. She was a former member of the Andalusia Mother’s Club and served as the president for many years. She also volunteered as a captain of the American Cancer Society for lower Rock Island County for over 30 years. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Doris was a very compassionate and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband, Robert; daughters, Karen (Michael) Hines, Milan, Susan (David) Wynn, Milan; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Hollmer, Andalusia, Ill.; son-in-law, Marty Bradley, Burlington, Iowa; grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) Morgan, Valerie Bradshaw, Sarah Hollmer, Seth Hollmer, Eric (Valerie) Wynn, Kyle Wynn and Logan Wynn; step-grandchildren, Nicole Bradley and Erin Bradley; six great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Leo (Marilyn) Roussell, Davenport, Darlene (Fred) Carstens, Davenport, Mary (James) Piercy, Moline; step-brother, Bert (Chris) Shipley, Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, step-parents, sons, Michael Hollmer and Douglas Hollmer, a daughter, Judith Bradley, and a brother, Donald Roussell. Dear Susan and family; I am so sadden to have your Mom pass away! She has always been a dear friend of our family! We know how much you will miss her! She was one of the BEST! I am sure she will be reunited with Judy and Doug, please let you Dad, Bob know how sorry we are! We will probably see you on Tuesday evening.
