|Peter Hain Carlson, 74, of Taylor Ridge, died Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Trinity Rock Island. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 801 W. Edgington St., Reynolds. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge. In lieu of flowers. Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Milan, Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge, or to the Mercer County Food Pantry.|
Peter was born in Rock Island on May 29, 1937, the son of Lester and Henrietta Hain Carlson. He graduated from Rock Island High School, Blackhawk College, and later attended Augustana College.
Pete married Donna McGinnis, who preceded him in death. He later married Patricia Nelson, from Joy, in June of 1969 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Davenport.
Peter was a 6 year U.S. Airforce veteran. He worked as a project manager at AMCOM on the Rock Island Arsenal for 27 years, and retired in 1993.
Pete was a past member of Zion Lutheran Church, and currently a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and wood carving. He really loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Steven (Lorie) Carlson, Taylor Ridge, and Michelle (Andrew) Berlingeri, Rock Island; grandchildren, Lucas Carlson, Rock Island, and Travas Carlson, Beth Gress, and Coty Gress, all of Taylor Ridge; three great-grandchildren, Kaelin, Addison, and Ava; and a brother, Mark (Trudy) Carlson, Chandler, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
