Edna Grace Ryner Reynolds, 94, of Taylor Ridge, IL, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, IA., after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Monday at Edgington Presbyterian Church, Edgington, IL. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, IL. Memorials may be made to Edgington Presbyterian Church, Edgington, IL.

Edna was born August 8, 1917 in Gerlaw, IL, the youngest daughter of Jacob H. Ryner and Bertha J. Stevenson Ryner. She married Willard W. Reynolds on March 18, 1939 at the First Christian Church, Davenport, IA. He died in March of 1989.

Edna and her husband farmed in the Monmouth-Little York, IL area on Woodvale Road until 1967 when they moved to the Taylor Ridge, IL area. She was last employed as a head cook at Canteen Service Corp. of Moline, retiring in 1974.

Edna was an avid softball player since early childhood and in her late teens played for the women’s team, Monmouth Whites, which was later sponsored by the Illinois Bankers Life Insurance Co., and with whom the team achieved second place in the state. For the last several years she was a faithful spectator at her oldest great granddaughter’s A.S.A. softball games, cheering on the Quad City Firebirds.

She also loved the outdoors, including camping and boating, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren at family activities. She was a member of Edgington Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Eileen (Kenneth) Moseley, Taylor Ridge, IL; three grandchildren, Anne (Peter) Hantz, Moline, IL, Rachelle (Matt) Brown, Andalusia, IL, and Micah Moseley, Taylor Ridge, IL; three great-grandchildren, Jasmine Moseley, and Kendall and Zachary Brown; and a step-great granddaughter, Mercedes Hantz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one half-sister, Alta Smith, and three sisters, Ruth Hood, Lois Anderson, and Anna Mae Shughart.

I worked with Edna many years ago at Canteen. I will never forget her smile and the words of wisdom she always had for a silly 19 year old girl. What a sweet lady!
