| Selma R. Ingles, 90, of Rock Island, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island. Graveside services for Mrs. Ingles will be 1:30 pm Wednesday at the Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Memorial Christian Church, 4300-44th Avenue, Moline, IL 61265. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030-7th Avenue, Rock Island is assisting the family. Selma R. Banks was born on April 6, 1921 in Maple, Iowa, a daughter of John Banks and Ella (Noonan) Banks. She married Edwin T. Ingles on December 5, 1939 in Galesburg; he preceded his wife in death on February 17, 1973. Selma worked at Miller’s Florist, Moline for several years and then at Washington Junior High School, Rock Island as a library aide. Later she worked at the Younker’s Department Store in South Park Mall, Moline from 1978 until September 7, 2003 when she retired. Mrs. Ingles was a member of Memorial Christian Church, Moline. She loved animals and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard and spending time with her pet cats. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing cross word puzzles. Survivors include her nieces, nephews; several great nieces and great nephews; and many special friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; siblings, Irene Gallagher, John Banks, Alice Banks, Harold Valentine Banks, Eugene Banks, Chester Banks, Lester Banks, Milo Banks. Selma was a very dear long time friend. I will sure miss her funny comments and jokes.

I enjoyed working with Selma at Younkers, in the Kids Department. One time we went went to Galesburg to visit her family, a brother and a neice I think. Rest In Peace Selma, you were a dear lady.

I worked for Mrs. Ingles at Washington Junior High as a student helper, along with Franco Milani, my future brother-in-law. I am very saddened by her loss. She was a good friend to me, and a wonderful person. I will always remember her.
