Doris Hallin was born on Oct. 29, 1927 in Rock Island, a daughter of Enoch and Hildur Swanson Hallin. She married the Rev. LeRoy S. Davidson on Jan. 22, 1955 at First Lutheran Church, Rock Island, where she was also baptized and confirmed. He died June 12, 2006.
Doris graduated from Rock Island High School in 1945. She was employed at Augustana College, Rock Island for seven years and served as secretary to the president, Rev. Dr. Conrad Bergendoff. As a devoted wife to LeRoy, their ministry took them to Lutheran congregations in Kansas, Nebraska, Wisconsin and South Dakota. Doris served as LeRoy’s secretary for many years. She later worked at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, Wis. and Sencore Electronics, Sioux Falls.
Doris spent many years typing church bulletins, singing in church choirs and participating in performances of Handel’s Messiah. Her greatest joy was caring for her family and assisting with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Gregg Lanners and son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Shareen Davidson, all of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; sister, Charlotte Pressly, Rock Island; and brother-in-law, Frank Talboom, Rock Island. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; sisters, Margaret Powers and Norma Talboom; and brothers, Carl, Ralph and Glen Hallin.
