Earl Lee “Lump” Nimmers, Sr., 76, of Rock Island, died Friday, February 3, 2012 at Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services will be held at NOON Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. Interment will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.

Earl was born on July 11, 1935 in Dermott, Arkansas, the son of Davie Nimmer and Zellestine Miller. He married Lizzie M. Floyd in 1953 in Dermott, AR.

Earl worked for Sivyer Steel Inc. for 27 years retiring in the early 1980’s. Mr. Nimmer’s joys in life included horse back riding, cars, westerns, and cooking. He also loved to dress up and go dancing, and enjoyed spending time with family.

Earl is survived by Lizzie; children, Earl (Martha) Nimmers, Jr., Lola M. Nimmers, and Leroy Nimmers, all of Rock Island, Sheila A. Nimmers, Augusta, GA, Sharon (Antonio) Sisk, Davenport, IA, Marilyn J.Nimmers-Ryan, Rock Island, Nolan D. Nimmers, Rockford, IL, and Candy (Joe) Jones, Davenport, IA; 29 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren; and cousins, Charles W. Miller, and Betty J. Miller, both of Rock Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 grandsons, an uncle, Cleveland L. Miller, and two aunts, Zelma Miller, and Susie Davis.
