| Betty J. Chance, 82, of Milan, IL, passed away Sunday February 5, 2012 at her home. Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 3 pm to 7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan, The Salvation Army, or to the family to be forwarded to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Betty was born August 18, 1929 in Moline, IL, a daughter of Howard Sharp and Helen Slater Sharp. She married Wally Chance on August 14, 1954. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She and Wally opened the Scamper In, Milan, in November of 1958, and she retired in 1995. She was a former board member of the Milan Chamber of Commerce. Betty was a breast cancer survivor. In earlier years, she loved to dance and enjoyed attending her children’s activities. Prior to her illness she enjoyed traveling and the Mallards hockey team. One of her greatest joys always, was time spent with her family and friends. Surviving are her husband, Wally, of Milan; children (and spouses), Sandy (Don) McLean, Reynolds, Tammy (Robert) McShane, Talala, OK, Kevin Chance, Avon, IN, and Brian Chance, Milan; grandchildren, Lori Hansen, Anita, IA, Tracey Miller, Peoria, IL, Chance McShane and Amanda McShane, both of Talala, OK, and Zac Byrd, Concord, NC; step grandson, Troy McLean, Indianapolis, IN: great-grandchildren, Cole, Brody, and Dysen; and her beloved pet dog, “Corker”. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Doris Branham, and one grandson, Jordan Chance. The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to the caregivers from The Lighthouse Homecare and Trinity Pathway Hospice. | |

Tammy and family, You have my sympathy in the passing of your Mom. I remember many great times spent at the Chance home growing up and was always made to feel welcome there. I will be out of town for work on Tuesday and unable to attend the visitation. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
