| Ronald E. Stromer, 65, of Davenport, formerly of Moline, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Inurnment with military honors will be at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to any animal shelter. Ronald was born on Sept. 18, 1946 in Moline, a son of Lawrence and Eileen Hampton Stromer. He married Marcella A. Baines on Nov. 30, 1999 in Rock Island. Ron retired from the Wal-Mart store on West Kimberly in Davenport. He previously had worked for the Rock Island Lines Railroad. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Ron was a great handyman and loved repairing vacuums and fans. Survivors include his wife, Marcella; a brother, Larry Stromer, Boomer, N.C.; and his sister, Laurel Welsh, Bryan, Tex. Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
