| A Funeral Mass for Catherine M. Owen, 94, Rock Island, will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock Island, Illinois on Friday March 2, 2012 at 10:30a.m. Interment will follow the funeral mass at Calvary Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, Illinois, with a rosary recited at 3:30pm. Catherine Margaret Owen passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2012, at Amber Ridge Assisted Living in Moline, Illinois. She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde; one son, Christopher Mathew; her parents, Hugh and Alice (Murphy) Cox of Halbrite, Saskatchewan CANADA; two brothers, James and John Cox; and three sisters, Marie Swank, Helen Anderson (Allen), and Dorothy Williams (Del). Catherine was born on February 23, 1918, in Halbrite, Saskatchewan CANADA. She was married to Clyde Owen on April 6, 1940. She was employed as an executive secretary and a licensed real estate broker; volunteered for Friends of Rock Island Library, Romo Club; Indian Bluff and Saukie golfer; bridge player, and a member of the St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society. Survivors are Son, James C. Owen (Karen) of St. Peters, Missouri, Grandchildren, Bridget C. Owen of Champaign, Illinois and James J. Owen of St. Charles, Missouri; two sisters-in-law (Dorothy Cox and Marge Cox) of Weyburn, Saskatchewan CANADA; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. | |
