| William “Bill” Eberts, Jr., 85 died Wednesday March 7, 2012 at Avonlea Cottage, Milan. Services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4 pm to 7 pm Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, and additional visitation 1 hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan. Bill was born on August 30, 1926 in Rock Island, IL to William and Viva Segar Eberts, Sr. He married Viola A. Croegaert on November 23, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Hooppole, IL. She preceded him in death on June 18, 2008. Bill attended Rock Island High School and briefly served in the WW II Army with the Tank Core Unit. He worked at Birtman Electric and was a tool and die maker at Bradley Mfg Company, until he started his own business as "Eberts Construction Company". He really loved the work of developing ground and building houses for people. Building was his second love, next to his wife. He never liked retirement and was proud of every house he built. He loved music and was always ready to go dancing. Bill was a charter member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. In his younger years he sang in the choir. He helped build the church and was an elder. He is survived by his son Bruce and daughter-in-law Darcy Eberts, Milan; grandsons James Vrana, Moline and Joshua Eberts, Milan; Great granddaughter Madison Vrana, Moline; sister, Kathryn Schomer, Milan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives . He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 60-years, brother Robert, sisters Wilma, Judy, Henrietta and Avillea (Tudy). | |

Bruce, we are so sorry for your loss. May your memories bring you comfort in the days to come. Your dad did a wonderful job building our home in 1972.
