|G. Maxine Doxsee, 94, of Milan, IL, passed away Wednesday April 11, 2012 at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo, IL.|
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, IL, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Alpha Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Blackhawk Fire Protection District or to Alpha Cemetery.
Maxine was born November 20, 1917 in Mercer County, IL, near New Windsor, a daughter of Walter and Edith (Stevenson) Allen. She graduated from New Windsor High School.
She married Willis H. Doxsee on June 5, 1935 in Rock Island, IL. He preceded her in death in August of 1964.
Maxine worked in the school lunch program of the AlWood School District for over 30 years
She was a wonderful cook.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Millard “Mike” Dooley, Milan; son and daughter-in-law, Willis “Bud” and Cheryl Doxsee, DeFuniak Springs, FL; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Crummy, Viola, IL; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and her special friend, Shirley Spivey, Galesburg, IL.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Jean Doxsee and Dolores Anderson.
Love you, Grandma Doxsee....you will be missed every day. You were so special to so many.
