Glenn B. Baugh, Sr., 83, of Rock Island, died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. Memorial services for Mr. Baugh will be 1:30 pm, Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030-7th Avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Glenn was born on September 10, 1928 in Melrose, Iowa, a son of John Baugh and Mary (Collins) Baugh. He married Eloise Henley on December 4, 1948 in Montgomery, Alabama. Mr. Baugh worked as a truck driver for the Carsten Freight Co. Rock Island, retiring in 1990. Later he worked for the Eagle Food Stores. Glenn was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local No. 371, Rock Island and a member of the Moline American Legion Post No. 246. Mr. Baugh was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a WW II U.S. Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Eloise; children, Glenn (Vicki) Baugh Jr., Rock Island, Teresa (Dan) Janecke, Peoria, IL., Timothy (Janice) Baugh, Matherville and Nilia (Dan) Elder, Rock Island; six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters; four brothers; and a great grandson, Dalton Elder. Online condolences may be left for the family at

So sorry to hear about Glenn. It was only last week when I mentioned Glenn and Eloise in a story concerning the tavern.

Uncle Glenn was so loved by his family, shown by their devotion to him throughout his illnesses. I will miss his soft spoken voice and laugh which is so well pictured here. My Mom's little brother.
