Valentin N. Anguiano, 87, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday April 28, 2012 at Trinity, Rock Island.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00pm Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, with a rosary recited at 4:00pm. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family.

Valentin was born on February 14, 1925 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Gerardo and Francescia Anguiano. He married Mary Quintana on December 12, 1953 in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg.

Mr. Anguiano retired from the former International Harvester Farmall Plant, Rock Island, where he was employed as a molder.

He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Valentin was a true handyman, an excellent upholster and was a singer in the Latino band “Crystals” for a number of years.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary; children and spouses, Tina (Carlton) Saunders, Salem, VA, Trish (Michael) Silvan, Davenport, Juan (Patsy) Anguiano, Rock Island, Jerry (Michelle) Anguiano, Rock Island; son in law, Russ Hoover, Milan; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and a special nephew, Lalo Porras.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anita Hoover in 2002, an infant daughter and two infant sons.
