| Gladys Caroline Bassett, 94 yrs old, formerly of Andalusia, IL, was carefully transferred from the loving hands of her family into the arms of her Heavenly Father on May 6th, at Friendship Manor’s Silver Cross Nursing Center in Rock Island, IL. Funeral services will be at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Milan at 11 am on Saturday, May 12th, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Gladys was born on June 5, 1917 to Otto and Gerda Murk of Abingdon, IL. She was the 6th of 12 children. She married Gene Bassett on March 6, 1948 after graduating from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse her entire career, retiring from Lutheran Hospital in 1979. Gladys was involved in the Andalusia Lions Ladies Auxiliary for many years and was a founding board member of the Andalusia Library of which she was very proud. Survivors include her daughter Carolyn (Julio) Garcia of Milan,son, Thomas (Phyllis) Bassett of Mennecy, France; grand-children: Christopher (Stephanie) Garcia from Ankeny, IA, Jeremy (Misty) Garcia from Washington D.C.; 5 great-grandchildren and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, one child (Timothy), four sisters and five brothers. | |

Dear Tom and Phyllis,
So sorry to hear of your mum's departure. We are with you in Spirit and in Heart. May the Lord Jesus bring you comfort and peace of heart knowing that Gladys is out of the body and present with the Lord Jesus.
That you may also bring comfort to your relatives through Jesus, the Living Word.
