Annie M. Gatheright, 82, formerly of Rock Island, died Friday May 11, 2012 at Trinity, Rock Island.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Peoples Missionary Baptist Church, Rock Island. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 – 7th Ave., Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Annie was born January 26, 1930 in Kemper County, MS, a daughter of Richard and Minnie Gales McClendon. She married Evie Gatheright on December 23, 1947 in De Kalb, MS. He preceded her in death on September 29, 2008.

In earlier years, Annie was a C.N.A. at the Rock Island Neighborhood Health Center. She then worked for Bendix Co., Davenport for a time. Later she was a lab tech at the former Moline Public Hospital. She was also a Foster Parent for many years. She retired in 1985.

She was a member of Peoples Missionary Baptist Church, Rock Island, where she served on the Mother’s board. She enjoyed quilting, golf, bowling, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Surviving are her children (and spouses), John Gatheright, Jacksonville, IL, David (Tammy) Gatheright, Rock Island, and Raymond (Terry) Gatheright, Goodyear, AZ; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry McClendon, Silvis, IL, and Ernest McClendon, Davenport, IA; sisters, Katie Stewart, Port Byron, IL, and Alline Hahn, Jackson, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Evie, Sr., son, Evie Gatheright, Jr., two brothers Lloyd, Travis and one sister, Colleen
