| William F. "Bill" DeVriese, 70, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Trinity Rock Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Burial is at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established later. Bill was born on September 5, 1941 in Rock Island, a son of Tayfield and Mary Foley DeVriese. He married Sharon K. Emrick on October 26, 1963 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island. He graduated from Alleman High School and attended Black Hawk College. Bill retired from Wilkins Pipe and Supply, Moline, where he worked for 32 years. Bill later worked at the Milan Hy-Vee Store. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Bill enjoyed riding his bicycle, working in his yard, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; children, Michael DeVriese, Rock Island, Suzanne (Jeff) Rakestraw, Geneseo, and Tim (Pam) DeVriese, Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Bradley DeVriese and Calvin and Savannah Rakestraw; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Anita DeVriese, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and three nephews. Just heard about Bill.I worked at Hyvee as a cake decorator.Bill always gave me a hard time and i just loved him to death.So so sorry for your loss.Ilost my dad in May so i know how it is.May God give u peace.
