| Alvera P. “Red” Klawon, 90, of Rock Island, died Wednesday June 27, 2012 at Trinity West, Rock Island, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030- 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a Rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m. Entombment will be at Rock Island Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Diabetes Association. Alvera was born March 7, 1922 in Rock Island, IL, a daughter of Louis Vietti and Valentine Russell Vietti. She married James O. Klawon on May 26, 1943 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2008. In earlier years, Alvera worked at A.D. Huesing and later for Servus Rubber Co, Rock Island. She retired from the Rock Island Arsenal after 23 years of service. She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Throughout her life, she enjoyed helping people, and facing life’s challenges with a positive outlook and determination to make the best of things. She will be greatly missed by all. Those left to cherish her memory are, her son, Thomas D . “Dike” Klawon, Rock Island; grandchildren, Jim Klawon, and his fiancée, Beccy Harris, Rock Island, Jennifer Sebastian, and her husband Brad, Bettendorf, IA, and Jennifer Klawon, and her fiancé, Rob Phillips, Rock Island; great-grandchildren, Chase Sebastian, Maya Spinosa, Oceana Sebastian, and Isla Sue Sebastian; nephews, Larry Vietti, Washington, and Jerry Vietti, East Peoria, IL; and one niece, Diane Hawbaker, Coal Valley, IL. Alvera is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, J. Sue Klawon, brother, Frank Vietti, and one niece, Mary Ann Warren. | |

I was saddened to here of your Moms passing.
I have great memories of her; especially our vacations in Minnesota.
