| Dwight T. McCall, Jr., 23, of Peoria, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Funeral services are Noon Friday at Greater Antioch Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Burial is at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be given to a memorial fund that has been established at the IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union to assist the family with final expenses and to support his children. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family. Dwight was born on June 27, 1989 in Rock Island, a son of Dwight Sr. and Lisa Franklin McCall. Dwight loved spending time with his family and friends most of all. Dwight’s favorite hobbies were fishing and taking care of his dogs. He was a very devoted father, and all that knew him were uplifted by his humor and his unforgettable smile. Survivors include his mother and father, Lisa and Troy Nimmers Sr., Peoria; father, Dwight McCall, Sr., Davenport; children, Tariyah Young, Ivyanna McCall, Dakarai McCall, Danajah McCall and Jah’miere Todd, all of Peoria; grandparents, R. Gene and Kathleen Franklin, Rock Island, and Charles McCall Sr., Chicago; step-grandparents, Cassandra Jackson, East Point, Mich., and Earl Jr. and Martha Nimmers, Rock Island; sisters and brothers, Ebonie (Vernon) Wilmington, Davenport, Aundrea McCall, Peoria, Marcus McCall, Peoria, Michael McCall, Peoria, Tori Nimmers, Peoria, Troy Nimmers Jr., Rock Island, Tatyana Nimmers, Rock Island, Promisse McCall, Davenport and Keenan McCall, Bettendorf; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. My thoughts and prayers go to Dwight's family! I was Dwight's phsycial education teacher during his childhood years at Audubon Elementary, Rock Island, Illinois! Dwight was such a pleasure to have in class; always showing positive leadership and displaying a great sense of humor! He and his younger brother Marcus were always in competition for the school pull-up record! Dwight was a joy to have in class and a gifted athlete! Dwight,you will be missed! Rest in peace.

I am one of Dwight's, and siblings,5th -6th grade teachers at Audubon. I am so saddened for all the family for your loss, you are in my thoughts and prayers. For many years we raised and released monarchs, something all the children loved...and as they fly away this year, they will fly for Dwight, a free spirit.
