| Loren C. Burrill, 73, of Milan, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at East Moline Nursing and Rehab, after his short battle with cancer. Funeral services are Noon Saturday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation is 10 am until service time Saturday. Burial is at St. John’s Cemetery, Viola. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ARC of Rock Island County, where his brother Dale works, whom he is very proud of. Loren was born to Oliver and Bernice Jinks Burrill on March 31, 1939 in Corning, Iowa. He moved to Viola when he was two years old. He graduated from Winola High School in 1957 and was a proud member of the football and basketball teams. He married Judy Garrison in 1965. Loren was a diehard Cubs and Bears fan and also enjoyed watching NASCAR and the fighting Illini. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Loren served as president and as a coach of the Milan Babe Ruth organization. He loved spending time with his grandkids and he especially enjoyed watching all their activities. He is survived by Judy; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Tere of Hampton, Mike and Jennifer of Moline, and Matt of Milan; grandchildren, Laura, Amanda, Julia, Mia, and Tyler; and his brother, Dale, of Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Jane; and brother and sister in infancy, Dennis and Kathleen. Online condolences may be left at www.wheelanpressly.com. | |
