| Betty I. Dugan, 88, a resident of the Aledo Health and Rehabilitation Center, Aledo, formerly of Milan died Friday September 21, 2012 at the center. Services will be 12 Noon Wednesday September 26, 2012 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Visitation will be from 10:30am to 11:45am Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E 4th Avenue, Milan Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family. Betty was born on July 1, 1924 in Macoupin County, IL, the daughter of Harry and Mamie (McKennel) Tary. She married John W. Dugan on January 15, 2012 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on August 23, 2012. She had been the secret baker of Christmas cookies for Marando’s Restaurant, Milan and ran the lunch wagon for many auctions and horse shows, where she was known for her homemade pies. Betty was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, St. Ambrose Altar and Rosary Society, Beautiful China painters club and formerly head of the PTA at Alleman High School and the former St. Joseph School. She loved baking and cooking, china and porcelain painting and gardening. Survivors include her children, Mary Seymour, Delmar, IA, Thomas Dugan and his wife Margaret, Fayetteville, NC; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son in law, James Seymour; siblings, Leona Bloomfield, Everette Tary, Leo Tary, Ruth Starchavict, Marion Gritton. | |
