David L. Klauer

David Lawrence Klauer, 83, of Coal Valley, died Thursday, April 25, 2024 surrounded by his family at home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Thursday, May 2, 2024 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley.  A rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm Wednesday, May 1, 2024 followed by visitation from 4-7 pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

David was born in Rock Island, Illinois on December 30, 1940, a son of Vincent F. Sr. and Antionette Morlok Klauer.  He married Helen “Jean” Hilton on February 9, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock Island.

David was a carpenter for 40 plus years and owned Larsen Klauer Builders.

He was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley.  While David enjoyed many hobbies, spending time with his family was what he enjoyed most of all.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jean Klauer, Coal Valley; sons, John (Debbie) Klauer, Berea, KY, Paul (June) Klauer, Tim (Kristine) Klauer and Matthew (Sara) Klauer, all of Coal Valley, IL; grandchildren, Chandler (Alaina), Jacob (Hazel), Vince (Jess), Samantha, Bailey, Andy (Kim), Tanya (Branden) and Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Collin, Caden and Leah; and siblings, Clarence (Shirley) Klauer, East Moline and Cecilia Kargl, Rock Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Fr. Arnold Klauer, Vincent F. Klauer Jr., William Klauer, Bernard Klauer and Richard Klauer and sisters, Theresa DeCrane and Janet Norman.
