Mary E Porter

Mary E. Porter, 78, of Davenport, formerly of Rock Island, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024 at home surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, with visitation from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the family.

Mary was born on January 26, 1946 in Rock Island, IL, a daughter of Ralph “Wally” and Marjorie (McLaughlin) DeLoach. She enjoyed 32 years of marriage with James Rex Porter Jr. before his passing. Mary worked in foodservice for many years, most recently as a waitress at the Quad City Downs.

Mary’s hobbies included gardening, visiting different restaurants, dancing, shopping and listening to music. She attended Bethel Assembly of God in Rock Island for many years.

Those left to cherish Mary’s memory include her children, Jo Ellen (Brent) Seibel, Jamie (Benjamin) Albright, Gordon Max (Kari Jo) Porter and Michele (William) Hanson; grandchildren, Joshua, Jospeh, Jordan, Marissa, Kamri, Kelsey, Ashley and Sarah; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ralph “Buddy”  Waldo DeLoach Jr., Clarence “Buck”  David DeLoach and Rosemary “Rosie” Elaine Murphy; several nieces and nephews; and canine companion, Lola.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, James Rex Porter III; and siblings, Patricia Ann, Cherie Ann and Deborah Lynn.
