Betty Jane Cation

Betty Jane Cation, 86, of Milan, Ill., formerly of Minocqua, Wis., passed away Friday October 6, 2017 at her home.

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 11th, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline with a luncheon following the service.  No visitation is planned. Inurnment will be at a later date. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, Ill., or Dr. Kate Home Health & Hospice, Woodruff, Wis.
Betty was born November 25, 1930 in the Peoria, Ill. area, a daughter of Jesse and Bernice Smith. She married James B. Cation on September 12, 1948 in Peoria, and recently celebrated 69 years of marriage.
Betty was a homemaker. First and foremost, she loved caring for her family. She will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, and was a former member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Minocqua. While living in Minocqua, she was a member of the ladies Lion’s Club, did volunteer work at the local hospital, and was a member of the Red Hat Club. Betty also took delight in working at Pine Grove Estate Sales.
Betty enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, cooking, antiquing, crocheting, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
 

Surviving are her husband, James B., of Milan; children (and spouses), Becky (Chuck) Leib, Milan, Jim S. (Diane) Cation, Minocqua, and Gary (Mary) Cation, Lombard, Ill.; seven grandchildren; five (and soon to be six) great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, James Paul Cation; one sister and three brothers.
