Carol A. Yuris, 85, of Rock Island, died Thursday, January 16, 2020 at her home. Services will be 11 am Friday, January 24, 2020 at Edgewood Baptist Church, 2704 38th Street, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 10 – 11 am Friday at church. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials in care of the QC Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Carol was born in Davenport, Iowa on October 19, 1934, a daughter of Alvin and Pearl Bendt Tebbe. She married Joseph Yuris on June 20, 1953 in Rock Island. He died on August 12, 2000.
Carol worked 40 years as a secretary in the Rock Island/Milan School District no. 41.
Carol was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Blackhawk Park Foundation and the Audubon Society. In her earlier years she taught bible school and sang in the choir at First Lutheran Church and was active with Girl Scouts where she was a Brownie leader for 19 years.
Carol’s number one passion was traveling. She was proud to have made it to all seven continents. Her favorite trips were a tent camping trip on a three-week photo safari in Africa with her husband, Joe and her trip to China with her daughter, Kathleen. When she was not traveling and cruising with family and friends, she enjoyed tent camping, collecting teddy bears, gardening, socializing, reading, walking and needlework.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kathleen (Tom) Lindquist, Phoenix, Ariz.; siblings, Eleanore Sims and Alan (Joyce) Tebbe; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter – Kristine Zirbes, sisters – June Balmer and Bonnie Seale and brother – Robert Tebbe.
