Charles L. Anthony

Charles L. Anthony, 89, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday October 4, 2017 at St. Anthony's Care Center, Rock Island.

 A Memorial service will be held 10:30 am Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Inurnment will be in Sherrard Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to UnityPoint Hospice- Quad Cities.

 Charles was born on December 22, 1927 in Rock Island, the son of Fred and Ruth (Moyer) Anthony. He married Leona Anderson on July 6, 1948.

 Mr. Anthony was an Industrial Engineer for over 20 years at the former Brammer Manufacturing Co., Davenport.

 Charles was a talented woodworker, and made cradles for each of his grandchildren. He loved the annual family picnic on memorial day, fishing, hunting, and western novels, movies and tv shows. His greatest joy was spending time and making memories with his family. He will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 69 years, Leona; children and spouses, David Anthony, Andalusia, Michael and Susan Anthony, Milan, Edward and Mary Anthony, Illinois City, Dianne and Larry White, Moline, Daniel and Fran Anthony, Matherville; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; sisters and spouses, Shirley and Charles Box, Sherrard and Doris and Tom Nipper, Seaton, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack Anthony and Norman Anthony.
