Ann,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I remember Chuck with much fondness. We shared the same birthday just one year apart so during our school years we would wish each other a happy greeting.
With sympathy, Linda and Grear

Though I didn't know Mr. Austin, I grieve with those who do know him. It is apparent we have lost one whose light has guided so many, one who in these times is so needed to serve and heal, and whose inspiration continues.

Dino and I are so sorry for your terrible loss. Also, I wanted to send my sympathy for your Dad, too. I couldn't come because my Dad ended up in the hospital that weekend. My condolences. Mr Austin taught me a lot about life at a time when I was too young to realize the lessons. But I reflected on them as I got older and matured. He led by example and I will always be thankful for having him as a teacher and coach. - God Speed, Gabriel (Toulouse) Serrano Class 1995

Chuck was a servant, and as he served he led. On more than one occasion I saw Chuck out picking up garbage discarded by careless motorists. He never drew attention to the littering or his collecting it; he simply served and picked it up. It reminds me of someone else who stooped down to pick up my garbage and litter. I thank God personally, and professionally, for Chuck. It's hard to know which was the greater servant, Chuck or his wife, Ann. But the two together? Wow, together they were simply an unbeatable match!

Ann, My heart absolutely breaks for you and your loss. I only had the pleasure of meeting Chuck just once - and that was at your house - and just from us conversing just that one time - I could tell what kind of a fantastic, hard-working, great guy he was, and I could see why you two were married - because you are both absolutely amazing, caring, sweethearts! Ann, hold on to all the many, many, many wonderful memories you two lovebirds have had and I know Chuck will live in your heart forever and will be watching over you and the family! I send you, my dear the biggest hug ever, and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers always!
Hugs - Connie

I came to know Chuck through Track and cross country officiating. Chuck and I held the same position of booth official at the state track meet the last several years, he at the boys meet and I at the girls meet. We would often compare notes and I was always impressed with his attention to detail and his ability to anticipate possible problems and work to solve them before they happened. I will certainly miss his valued opinion and his presence at the state meet. Please know that you have my deepest sympathy and I will keep your family in my prayers.

My thoughts of Chuck go back to our High School Mission Trip to El Paso when a small group of South Park Youth worked with Spanish-speaking children along the Rio Grande border with Mexico. We had few supplies, sheets of cardboard to sit on the dirt, and our inner desires to become teachers, in Christian faith and compassion. Chuck exemplified these qualities then and throughout his life in our community.
My deepest sympathy to his family.
