Donna M. (Schutte) Kester

Donna M. Kester, 87, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday September 15, 2018 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

Graveside services will be 11:00am Thursday at Rock Island National Cemetery, with Rev. Roger Carlson, officiating. Those wishing to attend should meet at 10:30am at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Memorials may be left to Q.C. Paws or University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, Iowa City.

Donna was born on June 19, 1931 in Rock Island, the daughter of Elmer and Minnie (Fuhr) Schutte. She married Kenneth Kester on November 14, 1953 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1978.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, reading and knitting.

Survivors include her children, Terri Sommer, East Moline, Robert (Ruth) Kester, Rock Island, Ann Kester Larson(Richard Larson), East Moline; grandchildren, Nicholas Kester, Benjamin (Tiffany) Kester, Nate (Rachel) Simenec, Sarah Simenec Pinon (Austin), Michael Sommer, Andrea (Jeff) Kessinger, Cori Larson, Nick Larson, and Lauren Larson; several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, John and Marilyn Terry, Dan and Nancy Terry, Jack and Judy McKinley, Patty Lerch, Jody Butz, Jack and Joan Kester.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; infant daughter, Kathleen; son in law, Ronald Sommer; brother, Elmo Schutte; sister, Doris Judge and Arline Terry; niece, Carol Lange and special dog, Taffy.
