Evelyn Golden

Evelyn Golden, 87, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday August 6, 2017 at Hope Creek Care Center, Rock Island.

 Services will be 12:30 p.m. Monday, August 14th, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 -  7th Ave., Rock Island, with visitation 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

 Evelyn was born June 6, 1930 in Sparkman, Arkansas, a daughter of Booker T. and Betty Ola Harrison.  She was married to Timothy Golden for 18 years.

 Evelyn retired from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, after 25 years of service. She also was an ordained minister.

 She was a member of King's Daughters and Sons. She also served as a poll watcher for many years. Evelyn had a love for collecting hats and antiques. She loved caring for her pets and enjoyed knitting.

 Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, JoAnn Golden, Atlanta, GA, Timothy Golden, Rock Island, Anthony Golden, Rock Island, Janet Golden, Rock Island, Gregory Golden, Rock Island, and Rochelle Golden, Atlanta, GA; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Elteaser  Lomax, Oakland, CA and Vertie Jo Adams, Oakland, CA; a host of nieces, nephews and additional family; and her life partner of many years, Clyde Harris, Rock Island.

 Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother and father; daughter, Shirley Golden; and brothers, Jimmy Lee and Rudy.
