Evelyn Mildred McGinnis, 96, of Illinois City, passed away Thursday December 6, 2018 at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo.

Funeral services will be 12:00pm Monday at Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Reynolds. Visitation will be 10:00am to service time. Burial will be in Illinois City Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Illinois City United Methodist Church.

Evelyn was born on June 29, 1922 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Louis Bert and Willie Blanche (Tapscott) Davis. Evelyn was a graduate of Reynolds High School. She married Ralph W. McGinnis on August 9, 1942 in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2009.

Mrs. McGinnis was a homemaker on the farm, gardening, freezing, canning, dressing turkeys at Fuhr’s farm, baking, helping with church dinners, setting tomato plants and cleaning neighbor’s homes. She was a member of the Illinois City United Methodist Church and attended Bible study with her church friends. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, puzzles, gardening, embroidery.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Nancy (Paul) Vroman, Taylor Ridge, Sharon Wynn, Rock Island, Cathy (Rolando) Renteria, Taylor Ridge, Steven (Glenna) McGinnis, Andalusia, Michael (Tracy) McGinnis, Muscatine, IA; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; siblings, LaVeta Bear, Rock Island, Groomer (Mary Ann) Davis, Hartland, WI., Nadine (Bernard) Groharing, O Fallon, MO. and Vicki Morris, West Wendover, NV.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, David McGinnis; great grandson, Hunter; brothers, Oscar Davis and LaVerne Davis; infant sister, Darlene Davis.
