Franklin Wade Hermann, Jr.

Franklin W. Hermann, Jr., 86, of East Moline, died Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Manor Care – Locust, Davenport.  Funeral services will be 11 am Friday, June 7, 2019 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 10-11 am Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Franklin was born in Rock Island on August 27, 1932, a son of Franklin W. Sr. and Vada Dee Weibring Hermann.  He married Mary Elizabeth Inman, who preceded him in death on February 9, 1973.  He later married Diana Clay whom preceded him in death on November 18, 2011.

Franklin worked as a millwright for the former Frank’s Foundry, Moline.  He retired in the late 80’s.

Franklin was a member of the Rock Island V.F.W. Post 1303 and Ducks Unlimited.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Another passion of his was duck carving.  He was well known for this skill and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Mary (Paul) Hines, East Moline, Bill Hermann, East Moline, Bob Hermann, Davenport, Robin (Kage) McCormick, Moline and Jeanne Veasey, Rock Island; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and sister, Vera Beckhart, Rock Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson – Adam Hines.
