Franklin "Ted" Tapscott Obituary

Franklin “Ted” D. Tapscott, 86, of Geneseo, Ill., formerly of Galesburg and Monmouth, passed away Friday September 6, 2019 at Allure of Geneseo.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, Ill., with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial, with military honors presented by Milan American Legion Post 569, will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus.

Franklin was born November 6, 1932 in Cave City, Kentucky, a son of Ernest and Lucy Dennison Tapscott. He married Katherine A. Schneider on December 30, 1955 in Monmouth, Ill.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. Franklin was employed for many years with Admiral-Maytag, Galesburg, Ill. Following his retirement, he and Katherine enjoyed watching their grandchildren.

Franklin was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards. His favorite times were those spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren whom he adored.

Surviving are his wife, Katherine, of Geneseo; daughter, Sherry Tapscott, Monmouth, Ill.; son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Brigitte Tapscott, Coal Valley, Ill., grandchildren, Tristan (Jessica) Tapscott, Jared (Ashleigh) Tapscott, Ethan (Emilie) Tapscott, Nathan Tapscott and Delaney Tapscott; great-grandchild, Harper Tapscott; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Thurman, Ed, Johnny and Gene Tapscott, and a brother and sister in infancy.
