Georgia L (Hardin) Newberry

Georgia L. Newberry, 85, of Largo, Fla., formerly of Rock Island, died Monday, September 4, 2017 at Largo Medical Center, Largo, Fla.  A rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday followed by visitation from 4-6:30 p.m. at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Services will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be private at Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona.  Memorials may be made in care of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Georgia was born in Rock Island, Ill. on June 11, 1932, a daughter of Emmett and Lena Ruud Hardin.  She married David Newberry on June 25, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island.

Georgia was a conversationalist.  She could start a conversation with anyone and knew no stranger.  Her proudest and most important accomplishment was being a wife, mother and homemaker.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, David Newberry, Largo, Fla.; children (and spouses), David (Beth) Newberry, Rock Island, Kelley (Jim) Stout and Laura Vyncke, both of Moline; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances (Dick) Clendenin, Mission, Texas; and brother-in-law, Gerry Foster, Mission, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Betty Foster.
