Harold Moffitt Obituary

Harold S. Moffitt, 89, of Milan, formerly of Reynolds, died Thursday, February 07, 2019 at Avonlea Cottage, Milan.  A rosary will be recited Monday at 4 pm followed by visitation from 4:30 – 8 pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Inurnment will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery, Viola.  Memorials may be made in care of Avonlea Cottage, Milan.

Harold was born in Mercer County on June 2, 1929, a son of Fay and Myrtle Hicks Moffitt.  He married E. Joann Sproston on August 14, 1948 at the St. John’s Church, Reynolds. 

Harold worked as an lineman for 18 years at the former Sherrard Power Company, now known as MidAmerican Energy.  He later became owner/operator of Moffitt Electric which he ran until he retired in 1979.  For a number of years, Harold also farmed on his acreage and grew tomatoes for Heinz. 

Harold was a member of the Caloosahatchee Moose Lodge 2395 in Cape Coral, Fla.  He enjoyed playing Euchre and Cribbage.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters (and spouses), Barbara (Rick) Ayers, Reynolds, Beverly (Kyle) Kaiser, McKinney, Texas, Sandie (Dana) Moffitt, Austin, Texas, Sue Reason, Andalusia and Cheryl (Danny) Klossing, Reynolds; grandchildren, Kim (Dave) Lloyd, Kelly (Jason) Johannes, Tom (Sophia) Conover, Rodney (Jessica) Conover, Harold “Cody” Moffitt, Zach (Erika) Reason, Cain (Natana) Reason, Deana (Mike) McCarthy and Sam (Danelle) Dixon; 29 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Tom (Sandy) Kilcoin, Preemption; and sisters-in-law, Martha Moffitt and Kathleen Kilcoin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Richard Moffitt and Chuck Kilcoin and son-in-law, Larry Reason.
