Jerry A. Jackson

Jerry A. Jackson, 65, of Illinois City, formerly of Moline, died Sunday, April 16, 2017 at his home.  Cremation rites were accorded.  A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Visitation will be from 9:30 - 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made in care of RICCA (Rock Island County Counsel on Addictions), Silvis.

Jerry was born in Moline on October 6, 1951, a son of Eugene and Martha McCartney Jackson.  He married Darla Corwin on July 14, 1990 in Illinois City.

Jerry graduated with an associate's degree from Blackhawk Community College, Moline.  He worked as a manager and certified addictions counselor at RICCA in Silvis for over twenty years.  Prior to RICCA, he worked at the Riverside Outpatient Center at Trinity Medical Center, currently known as the Robert Young Center.  Jerry also worked at Indian Bluff Golf Course, Milan.

Jerry had a tremendous passion for playing golf.  If he was not working, you could find him on the course.  His love for his cats and new puppy knew no bounds.  On Friday, April 14, 2017, he reached 40 years of being sober.  This was an amazing accomplishment that he was so proud of.

Survivors include his wife, Darla Jackson, Illinois City; children, Aaron (Kathleen) Hartzler, Rock Island and Jenna Jackson, Casper, Wyoming; grandchildren, Dylan and Elliot Hartzler;  siblings, James (Lori) Jackson, Thompsonville, Ill., Lisa (William) Payden, Estes Park, Colo. and David (Aileen) Jackson, Palo, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
