Joanne E. Boldthen, 77, passed away Sunday March 31, 2019 in Moline, IL.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 8th at 6:00pm at Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Portage, WI.
Joanne was born on January 4, 1942 in Portage, WI, the daughter of Urban and Helen (Zimmerman) Eulberg. She married Kim Boldthen on May 2, 1970 in Rochester, MN.
Joanne graduated from Minnesota State University, later earning her master’s degree. She taught at Georgia State University, Emory University, Clayton State University and Keensaw State University.
In 1975, she created a resettlement program to help Vietnam War refugees settle in the U.S. and have a better opportunity for life.
Mrs. Boldthen later founded Creative Options Personnel Service in Atlanta, GA at a time when just 10% of businesses were owned by women.
This cancer survivor was active with the choir, Women’s Circle and served as a lay minister at Unity Atlanta Church. Joanne is remembered for her huge heart and giving spirit.
Survivors include her step-mother, Helen Eulberg and Kim (Carol) Boldthen, the following adopted families; Natalie (John Mass) Linville-Mass and their kids Henry and Lucille, Brian (Jean) Linville and their kids Allison, Amanda and Abigail all of the Quad Cities, Ngoi Do and Tan Nguyen, God-daughter Linda (Vu Huynh) Vu and their son Blake, Brian (Thuy) Vu and their kids, Alan, Vinh and Don, all from the Atlanta area, Kindergarten friend Barb (Dick ) Schaper of Portland, OR, College friends Nancy (Charles) Linville, Davenport, IA and Craig (Maurice) Johnson of Sparks, NV, the friends who helped her through her Dementia, Diane Otterman, Bobbi Hutchison, Mary Ann Cockman and Leslie Storey and the many cherished friends she held so dear through the years.
