Lee Thomas Mapp, 77, of Rock Island, died Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his home. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Word of Life Church, 1804 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. A masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home by the King Solomon Lodge 20 A.F. & A.M. Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the family.
Lee was born in Decatur, Miss. on August 9, 1940, a son of Albert and Emmer Lou Rushing Mapp.
Lee worked ten years for General Electric as a repairman.
He was a masonic member of the King Solomon Lodge 20 A.F. & A.M in Rock Island. He was an avid bowler who bowled for the Wildcat Bowling Guild and he also enjoyed fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory include his life companion, Annette Mapp, Rock Island; children, Lee (Monique) Thomas Mapp Jr., Columbus, Ohio, Thomas Lee Mapp, Springfield, Ill., Dana Walker, Ga., Brian Mapp, Rock Island, De-Shawn Mapp, Minn. and La’Shawna Mapp, Ga.; step-daughters, Darla (Robert) Enter, Minn. and Denise (Larry) McWilliams, Ind.; step-sons, Bernard Walker and Byron (Patricia) Walker, both of Minn.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his best friend, Robert Nelson; and many other good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Braun Mapp.
